“When we were researching moving into Upton thirty years ago it was not supported by anyone.  I remember reaching out to City government to find out what was being planned for the community in the next 5 to 20 years.  I was told there was no such information.  I knew this information existed because, I came from an area where I helped plan such a forecast for a Black community within a large city.   I realized that given all of the challenges Upton had and still has…Upton was an exceptional community.  My neighbor saw early on that I really cared about our community and convinced me to begin community organizing here.  Through the “ebb and flow” Upton is on the up-ward trajectory.  Upton’s leadership is intentional about creating a community for the residents that are here and the people that want to be here.  Yes, homeownership is the priority and based on home sales….the evidence shows that Upton’s Change has come.”
